Narrative writing is often seen as the writer of the essay telling a story from their personal viewpoint. The author may share a story and talk about an experience that happened to them or someone they know. The idea is to present information that will be interesting while having a main point or idea they want the reading audience to know. This can be an easy assignment once you have a good idea of what you want to present and what you want your readers to learn from you. The following points are a few things to remember while completing narrative writing.
- When you start off writing your essay it helps to have a statement general in meaning. It is something easy to read and understand that gives a general idea of what the essay subject is about; it often reflects an experience or event the writer witnessed.
- Narrative writing is a form of storytelling. The writer of the essay shares their experience in what happen. The writer may share feelings and personal thoughts to help the reader get a good idea of what they experiencing at the time. The writer should use words that help enhance senses of the reader to help them get a better idea of what really happened.
- The last paragraph or the conclusion of the essay may provide a lesson learned by the writer. This may be known as the section of the essay that provides the meaning behind the experience. The writer may share how the experience made them feel or how it has helped them learn something about themselves they didn’t know.
- When the writer presents their content it should be written in logical order with events occurring as they happened. The essay should be organized and well written. This is especially true for information that appears after the introduction paragraph.
- When you choose your topic consider something interesting and engaging. This can help make the writing process easier and you tend to have more details to mention when you revisit the experience and review personal observations that can make your essay unique.
- You invite readers into your experience by sharing personal feelings and emotions. This is what makes your essay engaging and helps readers see things the way you saw them. Your essay is sharing a personal story with meaning but how you write it is what makes it interesting to read.
