Death penalty shouldn’t exist

Death penalty means taking away someone’s life as a punishment of a serious crime he committed-mostly murder. It can also be announced for other crimes depending upon the country laws. In military for example the punishment to treachery or betrayal is death and there is no further argument to it.

There have been endless debates on the topic that whether death penalty should or should not exist. Different people have different views on the issue. If we ignore everything and think as humans we should understand that an eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind. If a person has committed a crime there are many ways to punish him for it. Locking them up in a prison is enough to teach a lesson. Life in prison is not as easy as we think. People who are of the view that the criminals should be murdered must realize that death is not the solution to any problem. They believe that they shouldn’t be paying taxes for prisoners and that the prison is too good of a place for such criminals. These people do not have an idea how hard prison life is and it is easy to pass opinions without being at some place. It is agreeable that the criminals must be punished but there are many other ways for this. He can be charged with heavy fines along with extended years in the prison. It will be enough to teach him a lesson. Spending time away from your family and loved ones, with no access to clean water and food and clothes is enough of a punishment. Moreover the long non-ending hours in a cubical are enough for self-realization. We cannot simply take away someone’s life without even giving him a chance to improve. Nobody knows why this person committed a crime. May be he was forced to do so. May be he did not have a choice. There are murderers and drug dealers who never get punished only because they have influence or relations with higher authorities and then there are young teens who are sentenced to death. The laws must be followed but there should be a common sense to them. Justice does not mean making things right on paper, it means treating everybody equally.

Death penalty is not something that will help the society in any way. People should be allowed a second chance to make up for their mistakes.
